There are certain types of drama we do like in GirlCrew – the musical theatre variety definitely makes the cut!
The Gaiety School of Acting is a self-funded not-for-profit organisation that has been the start of many peoples journey into drama, music and the stage. Lauren O’Toole is the head of marketing there, and for their upcoming one day Musical Theatre Workshop (29 November, 10-5pm) they’re offering GirlCrew members a 10% discount. Simply tell them you’re a GirlCrew member when booking by email or phone. 01 6799277 | email@example.com

We asked Lauren what it’s like working there..
“I’m loving the opportunity to be around amazingly creative people every day and to be right at the coalface of the Irish Theatre community. I’ve been involved with drama and theatre since I was ten years old and am essentially addicted to it – thus, this is a perfect role for me. Plus there’s an amazing bakery and bookshop across the road so I’m living the dream!”
What are the best things about the workshops The Gaiety School of Acting runs?
“I truly believe the best thing about the workshops are the teachers – they are so talented, innovative, friendly and inspiring. I also love the diversity of our offer – I have to restrain myself from booking onto all the workshops myself or I’d never leave the place! On top of that, the school is a great place to meet new people, in addition to the plus of it being right smack in the middle of Temple Bar.”
We also asked if she had any advice for any of you who might feel a little nervous about stepping out of their comfort zone, or not feeling experienced enough to attend…
“It sounds cliched, but JUST DO IT! It’s a musical theatre workshop not a root canal treatment! We totally understand that not everyone will be super confident and all the Gaiety School staff you encounter – from the person booking you in over the phone, to the receptionist, right up to the teacher – are there to help put you at ease. It might be out of your comfort zone, but I guarantee you won’t regret it, you’ll have lots of fun and probably won’t want the day to end!”
And after doing the one day workshop, if girls got a taste for more, are there longer courses also?
We run ten week courses in Drama, Acting for Camera, Media Skills and Stand Up Comedy to name a few! At the moment we are putting plans in place for a longer Musical Theatre Course – watch this space!
Book in for the one day workshop by calling 01 6799277 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
