Average temperatures for June, July and August range from 26-29 degrees which sounds just about right to us. Food and drink can be astoundingly cheap. And if you go to the right places, you’ll get a pint for under €2. With an abundance of beaches and watersports, the Algarve is a great compromise been relaxing beach holiday and Adventure. Great for families or groups where everyone is looking for something different from the holiday.

2. Majorca

Majorca is a popular package holiday destination, but there is far more to the island than sun loungers. History buffs can enjoy Roman and Moorish remains on the island; sightseers can take in the stunning coves, limestone mountains and Serra de Tramuntana, which was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. But with beautiful weather in the summer months, there is definitely still room for sun loungers.

3. Costa del Sol

While Costa del Sol is probably the most famous Spanish sun resort. There is much more to this region of the Spanish coast then meets the eye (mushy peas and chips anyone). The traditional food in this region is slightly different than would be found in the rest of Spain due to a strong Arab and Jewish influence. I have personally spent great lengths of time in Benalmádena (the home of my paternal grandfather), and the old town is beautiful with gorgeous architecture, fountains and old-style tapas restaurants where you can watch the world go by. I also recommend the visiting the summer fiestas, browsing in the famous markets and taking the cablecar to the top of Calamorro Mountain.

4. Lanzarote

Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands and is just off the west African coast. Lanzarote is a beautiful volcanic island with unusual landscape and year-round good weather. Make sure not to miss Timanfaya National Park and take a day trip to La Graciosa, a tiny island with no roads just beaches and waterside fish restaurants.

5. Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is part of the Spanish Canary Islands located off the North West African coast. This island is called a “Miniature Continent” due to the different climates and the variety of landscapes found, with long beaches and dunes of white sand, contrasting with green ravines and picturesque villages. A whole third of the island is under protection as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Don’t miss: Roque Nublo mountains and scenic railroads and the Islands beautiful beaches such as Playa del Ingles.
