Chicago is known as the windy city. Its famous for its food, history and epic sports teams. If you’re in the mood for something different and find yourself a bit of a night owl, well GirlCrew is here to save the day ( or rather the night ). Go alone or with your friends. Take a break and head to the snack bar so you can refuel.
Buckingham Fountain is a great thing to do in Chicago at night for free. The fountain is one of the largest of its kind, with a centre jet that streams water 150 feet in the air. Think of the Bellagio fountain in Vegas but on a smaller scale. The fountain typically runs from 8 am to 11 pm daily. Although seeing the water display in the daylight is still beautiful, at night is where the display is really spectacular. The final display is at 10.35pm so don’t miss out!
Ice skating at Millennium Park
Ice skating at Millenium Park is a lovely thing to do in Chicago at night in winter. It may be freezing out but warm yourself up by trying some skating tricks. Or if you are accident prone and don’t want to risk breaking a bone, treat yourself to a hot chocolate at the Park Grill. Ice skating is free and open to the public. Skate rental is $14.
If you have little ones and want to do something different, having a sleepover at the Shedd Aquarium is the perfect family thing to do in Chicago at night. The kids will get the chance to explore the aquarium, play games, take part in a scavenger hunt and sleep next to the fish! Families can all sleepover together and adults are encouraged to take part. Dinner and breakfast are included in the price.
Adler After Dark is a great thing to do in Chicago at night for over 21s. Open every third Thursday of every month. Adults can enjoy open access to the planetarium, unlimited shows, and unique entertainment. Themes change every month so you never experience the same show twice. Tour the Doane Observatory or relax taking in the Chicago skyline with a cocktail or two.
