I love going to the movies, its one of my favourite things to do. And in LA ( which the GirlCrew app has officially launched in! ) you have the absolute pick of places on where to see the newest release. But what if its really sunny and warm out and you don’t want to miss out, but still want to see your favourite flick? Well, you can! Here are some of the best spots to enjoy outdoor movies in Los Angeles.

Silver Lake Picture House

The Silver Lake Picture Show has been showing free outdoor movies in Los Angeles since 2012 and has grown to be one of Los Angeles’ biggest free outdoor movie theatres. Film lovers of all generations gather to socialize and enjoy an eclectic DJ set, catch a showcase of fresh independent short films created by local artists, and enjoy a favourite feature film.

Melrose Rooftop Theatre

A unique rooftop movie experience nestled in the heart of Los Angeles fashion and design district. Melrose has a rooftop bar where you can hang out before or after the movie. Have some drinks and listen to music. Or go to the second level where there is a restaurant so you can have dinner before the movie, perfect for date night. There’s also a bar in the movie area where you can get yourself some popcorn and snacks. It’s a great spot for a night out with friends.

Street Food Cinema

Street Food Cinema in Los Angeles is one of the most popular places to go to watch an outdoor movie. They have a great selection of movies from your childhood favourites to cult classics. There’s often special guests or games depending on what movie is playing. They have lots of food trucks lined up and so much of a variety of food to choose from. And the best part is, the place is dog-friendly so you can bring your furry friend along as your date!

Eat|See|Hear is a great way to see a movie in the park on a Saturday night in Los Angeles. Their event series runs on Saturday nights from May through to September. LA’s best food trucks will be parked all throughout to offer lots of tasty treats. Popular movies such as Selena are shown with an incredible high definition audio-visual projection on a three-story tall, 52-foot wide inflatable movie screen. Local bands perform before the movie so you have lots of time to find the perfect spot and relax for the evening.

Cinespia

Cinespia host screenings of classic films at two locations in Los Angeles. The most famous being the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Launched in 2002, Cinespia shows films from the 1930s through the 1990s. In addition to showcasing the best of cinema, Cinespia screenings feature pre-show DJs, themed photo booths and even occasional visits by celebrities.
