Looking for love in 2019? Sick of your ma hassling you to settle down? Want to meet new people? Well we’ve got just the thing. On January 19th we’re holding an old-fashioned mixer which will have plenty of Gaeltacht and Father Ted vibes – but don’t worry, Irish isn’t a requirement. Ahead of that, we asked Sandra Losty, aka The Wedding Lady for her tips on finding romance.
Swiping away your evenings might seem like fun at first, but we all know it becomes soul destroying pretty quickly. The relentless bathroom selfies, the dodgy holiday snaps, the pouting. It’s all too much. We want to make things simple. So we’re hosting a Shebeen on January 19th. Designed to help you meet new people, this night is a place to mingle, dance, and have fun. Not only that but ticket holders can also enjoy food and drink supplied courtesy of Just Eat and Jameson. Winning! But how do you find the love of your life? We asked Sandra Losty, aka the Wedding Lady for her advice.
Guys, what’s you favorite part of online dating? Having long hours of intense intimate flirting and trying to meet up or ghosting each other a week later?

Let’s start at the start – how do you know when you’re ready for a relationship?
I would say when people are dissatisfied with the perks of life as a single person it is an indicator that there is more to be had out of life. When there is a call from within that nothing else will satiate. And reflection, when a person can reflect on what they can bring to a relationship I would say they know what they can offer to another person and know what they are looking for in a mate.
Which sounds lovely, but we often hear that people aren’t sure what they’re looking for. So how do you figure that out?
Love this question. How many times have we been told write out exactly what you want the person to look like, how tall they are, colour hair, what they work at etc. That might work to a degree, but if you dig a little deeper and ask some questions like, “when I am stressed how do I want my partner to support me” or “when I have good news to share what kind of response would I love to get from my partner”. Think of everyday things that mean a lot to you. What kind gestures make you say that person was really thoughtful or something they do that makes you feel they have ‘got you’. Values are we are driven by and qualities are a huge indicator of whether or not you can share yourself with another. If they come in the package of being easy on your eye too then all the better.
Ok, so we have our lists, and we’ve taken some time out to really reflect – now what? What is your one tip on finding love?
Try new things, go new places and meet new people as much as you can. If you are a routine person then all the more reason for you to try new things. Go somewhere with a pal. You don’t have to go anywhere alone to meet new people. And talk, say hi my name is —- and you are—- Shake hands with people when you first meet them. And while you are open to finding love also be open to love finding you.
If you think you’re ready to meet someone, or you’d just like to dip your toes into the dating pool then be sure to pop along to the Shebeen. There’s absolutely no pressure, it’s just a place to meet new people and have fun. Tickets are flying out, so be sure to nabs yours now.
