GirlCrew & Microsoft present GirlCrew Pro 9: A careers event for those looking to build a platform, make a change, and grow

About the Event
Whether you’re looking to advance your career, make some new connections, switch industries or become an entrepreneur, GirlCrew Pro is the event for you. GirlCrew Pro 9 will take a specific focus, highlighting those working in careers, organisations, and groups that aim to improve the world by increasing diversity, equality, and opportunities; particularly for the vulnerable and disadvantaged.

Roisin Lyons (PhD), Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship & Innovation
Roisin lectures in Dublin and in Saudi Arabia, and has won teaching awards for both posts. Her research and passion focused on the development of entrepreneurial tendencies in individuals and teams. Keenly interested in social entrepreneurship, Roisin works in an advisory role for the Enactus programme, the School Enterprise Challenge and the national CSR forum. One of DCU’s Enactus groups who Roisin has worked with, ‘Second Scoop’ will also be along on the night with their mobile pop up ice cream shop. Second Scoop provides work experience, training and mentorship opportunities for people seeking asylum, and aims to help facilitate integration into Irish society.
Máirín Murray, co-founder of Tech For Good Dublin
Máirín Murray is co-founder of Tech For Good Dublin – a community of techies, designers and activists. Máirín has a MSC in Multimedia Systems from Trinity College Dublin and a strong technical knowledge covering platform and digital product development. As a Senior Producer at the BBC, she led the platform and content development of BBC Blast – a UK wide service encouraging young disadvantages people to gain confidence and skills through digital creativity.Máirín has recently founded her own digital content studio – Digital Doddle and is working with a number of clients in the healthcare and education sectors.
Ashleigh Conway, Program Manager at Microsoft
Ashleigh is a Program Manager in Microsoft Ireland working on delivering data-driven solutions within Office 365. She earned an ME in Electronic and Computer Engineering from UCD and joined Microsoft full time in 2015 after previous internships. She leverages opportunities such as the Microsoft hackathon to explore the ways we can leverage technology to help various groups in our society. In every part of her day to day job, Ashleigh is passionate about pushing for inclusion, both in terms of how we build software and within the team.
Jess Kavanagh, Lead singer of BARQ & Social Activist
Jess has been a prominent influence in the emerging Soul, Jazz and Funk scenes in Ireland for several years. Raised by an Irish-African mother and Soul enthusiast who sustained her on a musical diet of Motown, Jazz and Irish Indie. She also graced the cover of Hotpress for their Repeal issue and has been outspoken on a number of topics including social justice and direct provision.
Liz Fingleton, Co-Founder of Obeo, Partner & Programme Manager at Dogpatch Labs
Liz is the co-founder of Obeo, the compostable food waste box that helps people recycle their food waste via their brown bin. After leading this startup for the last 4 years she recently moved into the corporate innovation world and has taken up a new role as Partner and Programme Manager in Dogpatch Labs to help accelerate internal startups. She is passionate about sustainable design and startups.
Furkan Karayel, founder of Diversin.com
Furkan has just launched Diversein.com – a global diversity and inclusion platform that brings people from different backgrounds together to make equal and happier workplaces. She previously founded Giftoven.ie, an end to end luxury gifting solution for corporate clients. She’s an active speaker at international events sharing her journey in tech, inspiring other startups and bringing STEM women together.
