Limerick City Gallery & The Peoples Park
Maybe I’m biased because I went to art college here, but I think the Limerick City Gallery is great, they get some really interesting shows and also run events and workshops that are worth keeping an eye out for. Since I left, didn’t they only go and add a cafe an all too so it’s even better know. If you’re on a day-trip to the city, it’s about three minutes walk from the bus and train station so you can even pop in en-route to the city centre (a lengthy five more minutes of walking 😉 ). As it’s built in the Peoples Park, you can have a stroll around there too.
The Milk Market
The Milk Market is an open air market in the city centre that supplies heaps of locally produced/sourced fruit, veg, cheese, meats, fish and many other wonderful products. Alongside the stalls, you’ll be able to grab a nice coffee and maybe event catch some live music. They’re open Fri-Sun until 3pm each day, with early on a Sunday morning probably being the most enjoyable time for a visit.
Wine, Craft Beers & Tapas
Also set within the market, but with street access to is ‘The Nook’, a hideaway in the heart of the city and catering to all your grown-up foodie needs – craft beers, tapas, wine, and a lovely setting for some sophisticated conversation.
You don’t have to be a gym fanatic to get out and enjoy the outdoors, and kayaking is a really fun way to splash about while still managing to have a bit of a chit chat. GetWest offer Kkayak tours within Limerick city and it’s a really cool view to get of the castle and surrounding areas. For the more experiences kayakers they offer 10k tours, and they also do stand up paddle boarding.
Making Friends in Limerick
Making friends as an adult can be hard, but in Limerick, GirlCrew should be your first stop! The Limerick group has been consistently wonderful and active and in general GirlCrew has proved one of the nicest ways to make the most of your area, whether you’re new to a town or have lived there forever. We see this over and over again in the GirlCrew groups in over 40 cities around the globe. You’re bound to find someone who shares a few common interests or the same sense of humour. The group is open to all women over 25, with no upper age limit. There are always new members joining so don’t feel worried about everyone already knowing each other. We’ve all been newbies once! Hit the link below to join the Limerick crew or check out our other city groups here.
