What’s not to love about Houston, I mean it’s the birthplace of Beyoncé. Surely that’s reason enough to love the place. Here at GirlCrew we’re huge fans of Queen Bey, but girl’s gotta eat so we’ve compiled some our favourite fun places to eat in Houston.
Natachee’s Supper ‘n Punch was awarded Favorite Spot in Midtown for 2014 and Best Comfort Food for 2012 by the Houston Press. It’s a great restaurant to meet up with friends and enjoy some home cooking away from home. Breakfast starts at 8 am which is served all day and lunch specials under $7. Treat yourself to a cold beer, or one of their signature punch drinks from the bar. Weekday Happy Hour runs 3 to 6 pm, with great deals on drinks, plus half-price select appetizers. There’s live music on the weekends too.
Hearsay Market Square
Hearsay is located in Houston’s Historical Market Square and based in the 2nd oldest building in Houston. Serving up flavorful renditions of American classics. Hearsay would make a fun place to eat in Houston for birthdays as there is a big brunch menu and tasty cocktails to indulge in too. There’s live music on Sundays so the perfect way to end your weekend.
The Hobbit Cafe
Lord of the Rings fan rejoice ( I am booking my flights right now just so I can go to the Hobbit Cafe!) The cafe is a themed restaurant in Houston dedicated to the famous trilogy. ‘If you’re into brunch, The Hobbit is the place to be on the weekend.’ While you are snacking on some yummy appetizers such as their fish tacos, you can celebrity spot with your friends. Jack Nicholson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Depeche Mode have all eaten here. They even celebrated a birthday with Woody Harrelson.
We wrote about Julep in another blog post covering the best ‘Happy Hour in Houston’ but it’s also an awesome place for dinner and drinks in Houston. It has a laid-back vibe that everyone can enjoy, and they are even pet-friendly. Outside, is a veranda area which is perfect for big groups. Enjoy some of their light bits such as chicken bits with honey hot sauce or treat yourself and your friends to the ‘demi tower’ – 1 lb lobster, 4 oysters, 4 crab claws and 4 shrimp.
Sambuca is all about friends, family, food, and fun. Sambuca features savory new American food and modern cocktails. They have nightly live music that engage guests in the energetic vibe of the restaurant, reminding them to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Sambuca favours itself as the place to throw a really good party. They host private events too so this would make the perfect spot for a GirlCrew event.
House of Blues
House of Blues is probably not the first place you think of when going for food but why not match a great concert with equally flavorful signature dishes and inspired cuisine. House of Blues would make a great date night or a fun place to eat in Houston for adults only. Leave the kids at home and treat yourself to a really fun night out.
