Best Vegan Food in Vancouver

Bowl filled with grains and vegetables

Veganism is more than just a trend, but it can still be difficult to find places that have a great range of options. We put the question to our members, where is the best vegan food in Vancouver? And they delivered.

One cold Sunday afternoon, after having a few too many diet cokes the night before I sat down watched a string of Vegan documentaries on Netflix and came away feeling just a bit little guilty for my laissez-faire attitude to food.  The benefits of a plant-based diet are well documented but what always really put me off was the idea of navigating eating out ( which is non-negotiable for me). With that in mind, I asked our Vancouver members where there favourite vegan eating spots are.

Virtuous Pie

Pizza is one thing I could not do without. Virtuous Pie is basically the first spot most people will mention when you ask about vegan food in Vancouver and we can definitely see why. There is just so much to love about this place.

Two Daughters Bakeshop

Their cinnamon buns are what dreams are made of. When you’re on either a vegan or gluten-free diet, freshly baked goods can seem like a thing of the past. If you’re vegan and gluten-free it’s a distant memory! Two Daughters bake shop makes dreams come true with freshly baked goods. Make sure to try a cinnamon bun.

3G Vegetarian

One of the things that really blows people away about 3G Vegetarian is the choice. They are most famous for their vegan Dim Sum but we recommend checking out the rest of the menu too as there’s a huge range of items.

IloveChickpea

Ilovechickpea has both a travelling food truck and a sit-down restaurant. They describe their food as  “Delicious plant-based food with a Mediterranean twist” and their chickpea fries are UNREAL! (We’d marry them…the fries that is)

Dipped Doughnut co.

When thinking about the best vegan food in Vancouver, we had to include some desserts. Our members told us Dipped Doughnut co. do the best vegan doughnuts in Vancouver. Their banana cream was mentioned as an all-time favourite.

MeeT on Main

How delicious does this burger look?  GirlCrewers recommended this place to me for the drool-worthy food and because they found the staff to be so great. Sometimes you just need to sink your teeth into a burger and get that satisfying full feeling, now vegans don’t need to miss out.

Lucha Verde

Another amazing recommendation from one of our members was Lucha Verde on Davie St.  It is a vegetarian Mexican restaurant with great vegan options and cocktail menu. Best of all everything on the menu is gluten and nut free too.

Buddha-full

Buddha-full is a great organic, vegan, raw food and gluten free shop/restaurant!! Their smoothies are awesome, with a huge range of ingredients to make sure each one is packed with nutrients and flavour. This spot is the perfect place to grab a delicious lunch.

Hey Dumplings!

Hey Dumplings! is brand new on the scene so our members haven’t tried them (yet) but were excited to get a chance. While not everything on the menu is vegan they have plenty of great options. Besides, what kind of monster doesn’t like dumplings?

Umaluma gelato

Organic plant-based gelato. We don’t really need to say more – just look at it – but if you’re in need of a tasty treat this spot tops our list. They have 20 flavours, including the signature Drunken Cherry.

Think we missed your favourite spot for vegan food in Vancouver? let us know in the comments so we can right our wrongs…And while we have you thinking about Vancouver why not check out these alcohol free activities, or these easy ways to meet new people there.
