Join the Nashville group here or check out our other city groups if that’s not where you’re based. Now that you’ve got a crew sorted, what’s good to see, do or eat there?
Country Music Hall of Fame
Nashville is known as a center of the country music industry, earning it the nickname “Music City U.S.A.” so country music will have to feature! You may want to start that off at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to make sure you’re well-up on all things country and this city’s important place within the genre. Exhibits feature legends of country music’s past as well as today’s biggest stars. You can grab a bit to eat there too if you want to. Then have a little browse of the gift shop.
Take a Bike Ride
The city has a great offering for anyone who likes to travel on two wheels. The Nashville B Cycle bikes have 30 stations across the city so you can pick one up in one area and easily drop it off in another, much like the Dublin bikes if you’re familiar with them. Their website also offers tips for apps that will give you cycling guides for parks and greenways or great routes to take. Super!
Grab Some Food
While they’re known for their music, they do some mean work when it comes to food too. Recommended places to check out include Prince’s Hot Chicken (Chicken gets cooked by the order, which is great but means you can expect to wait a little while to get it especially if it’s busy. Also head to Arnold’s Country Kitchen, owned by jack and Rose Arnold who have been serving up tasty meat and three veg there since 1982. Make sure to try their fried green tomatoes cooked with apple juice and hot sauce and their creamy banana pudding. Also ask locals for tips or post in GirlCrew Nahsville and see if anyone knows anywhere great and new that’s popped up recently, or some secret gems.
Check our Some Live Music
Take in a “Songwriters-In-the-Round Show” also known as a “writers night.”You’ll get to see a few singer songwriters together and often only accompanied by a microphone and a guitar. Two places you might catch one of these shows are the Bluebird Cafe in Green Hills and downtown’s The Listening Room Cafe. In the summer months you’ll find music in the open air too. You may catch events like Musicians Corner at Centennial Park, Full Moon Pickin’ Parties at Percy Warner Park Equestrian Center, Bluebird on the Mountain, Music in the Vines at Arrington Vineyards, and Live on the Green at Public Square Park or head to Riverfront Park for a performance at the Ascend Amphitheater as well as enjoying views of the Cumberland River.
