5 Things To Do In Dublin This Week

We know how hard it can be to make it through the work week- crawling along until Wednesday and then trying to ride out the remaining days until you can slide right into your weekend plans. But here at GirlCrewHQ, we don’t believe in waiting until the weekend to have fun. From a free preview show to yoga on the Grand Canal, we’re highlighting five things to do in Dublin this week,  that are sure to add some excitement to your entire week and not just the weekend!

Let’s dance!

First of our things to do in Dublin this week is the start of five-weekly Irish Dance Bootcamp sessions. Starting on on Wednesday, June 21 the BootCamp is led by acclaimed Irish dancer, Mark Hennessey. The class is centred around teaching basic Irish dance steps in a BootCamp-style class to get you moving and sweating! You can trust that you’ll be in good hands with Mark, who has toured with shows like Lord of the Dance, Celtic Tiger, and Feet of Flames. Classes run on Wednesdays from 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm and you don’t need any prior dance experience! Details on how Irish Dance Bootcamp can help you crush your fitness goals can be found here!

Catch a show

Abbey Theatre is kicking off a series of “Free First Previews”  on Friday, June 23 with Room by Emma Donoghue. Based on the novel of the same name, Room is the story of a young boy, Jack, and his mother who are being held captive in a small room. To Jack’s mother, the tiny space is a prison; but to Jack, it is the entire world. Tickets are only available the night of the show on a first come, first served basis. Doors open at 6:30 pm, but we highly recommend getting there early to make sure you get a ticket. If queuing doesn’t sound like your thing, you can also book one for a later date here.

Get crafty

The Design House is hosting a series of Afternoon Tea Classes. They range from jewellery making and bead weaving, decoupage, and millinery- fascinator/ head piece making. Each one day class is 3 hours and includes a glass of wine, tea, or coffee, a treat from The Design House’s cafe, and all materials needed for your class. Classes are open to all skill levels, and best of all, everyone goes home with a finished piece! For details about each class including dates and times, pop over to The Design House’s website.

Go on a treasure hunt

I always feel like flea markets are a bit like treasure hunting without a map. You’re not sure quite what it is that you’re looking for, but when you find it, you know you have to have it. The Dublin Flea Market has over 70 stalls and spills over with vintage whosits and whatsits, clothing, furniture and all the other trinkets a girl could want. Swing by the June Flea on Sunday, June 25 from 11 am – 5 pm to check out all of the unique treasures you’re looking to get your hands on.

We’re trading in our yoga mats for stand up paddleboards! On Wednesday, June 21, Back to the Heart Yoga is putting a little twist on your basic yoga practice. They will be leading a morning SUP Yoga class on the Grand Canal. Back to the Heart Yoga says members will “learn to engage your core, lengthen the major muscle groups, free the breath, quiet the mind all while connecting to the natural beauty that surrounds us and the stability within.” More information can be found here

There’s our round-up of Things to do in Dublin this week! All of these events are giving us major FOMO. So snap some pictures, so we feel like we’re tagging along! Share your photos with us by using #girlcrew or tagging @GirlCrewHQ. Is there another event you’re itching to go to? Pop it in the comments, or better yet, create an event in the GirlCrew Dublin group and invite the crew!
