If you haven’t been with it enough to sort out a last minute break or have decided you’d rather be out and about than stuck in doing that spring cleaning left over from last year, we’ve got you covered.
True fact: pubs are closed on Good Friday here. Pray for those poor Stags and Hens from other countries roaming the streets in search of sauce.
If you want to get your rave on, loadsa stuff happening including King Kong Company at the Button Factory and DJ Koze and Romare (my album of the year so far) at District 8 both on Saturday night.
Daytime happenings to be found at Drunch Club at Odeon on Easter Sunday from 2-6pm with DJs, food and cocktails. drunchclub.com
Our favourite cinema in London Town (and Quentin Tarantino’s), the Prince Charles has loadsa good movies on over the long weekend including the Director’s Cut of Bladerunner (young Harrison Ford *swoon*), Pulp Fiction, True Romance and, wait for it, a Mean Girls Bitch Along. You go Glen Coco! princecharlescinema.com
Battersea Park Zoo is hosting an easter egg hunt. The animals are guarding the eggs, just follow the clues and fill in a quiz sheet to hopefully win a prize. Not 100% sure if you will need to borrow a friend/relative’s child to go along so you may want to check that out. batterseaparkzoo.co.uk
The must-see Lego exhibition The Art of the Brick is still on at the Truman Brewery and will end on April 12th. artofthebrick.co.uk
The Rip Curl Pro event is taking place at Bells Beach in Victoria until April 12th. This tournament has been going since Rip Curl first put up the dosh in 1973 and it became the first ever pro surfing event in Aus. Tickets can’t be bought in advance so it’s a case of rocking up on the day and hoping for the best. All the better for a bit of spontaneity. ripcurl.com.au/?aboutbells
A place that incorporates a music-based pun and toasties. I am dying to go here. Toastface Grillah is based in Perth and can surely be the only place to go for your grilled cheese and coffee. The man himself, Ghostface Killah, has even been here to give his seal of approval. toastfacegrillah.com
What could NYC do better than anywhere else? How about a parade with an Easter bonnet festival perched atop? You got it. There have been past sightings of hats featuring models of Coney Island and the New York skyline. We’re slightly in awe at the thought. Easter Sunday strutting down Fifth Avenue from 49th to 57th St.
Time Out New York have just announced the winner of their award for best mac n’ cheese at their Mac Daddy competition with the award going to Atwood Kitchen & Bar Room so definitely worth a look in our opinion. But if they are fully booked, there’s probably one or two other places you could try. atwoodny.com
The whole of Alexanderplatz turns into a huge market for all you bargain hunters with special offers galore. Or you could just spend the whole weekend dancing in Berghain. Easily done.
Haven’t mentioned your neck of the woods? Let us know what we’ve missed! Looking for people to hang out with this weekend, get in touch to suggest an event or check out what’s already happening on Facebook.
